This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Public Sector as a Senior Trading Standards Officer.
To ensure a fair and safe trading enviornment for consumers and businesses.
Carrying out comprehensive inspections of trade premises.
Advising traders and consumers of their rights and obligations.
Investigating complaints and service demands develop and implement projects and initatives.
Carry out programmed reisk based and project based inspections of a wide variety of trade premises, with a view to ensuring compliance with trading standards legislation enforced.
To carry out the duties of a weights and measures inspector, including verification work, average quantity and standards testing.
Undertake age related enforcement and to supervise cheildren engaged in the test purchase of age controlled goods.
Prepare letters, reports, memoranda and notices as part of any case work including issuing suspension notices or seizing goodswhere publice safety is involved and the seizure of high value items, e.g counterfeit products.
Undertake all enforcement activity in accordance with Police Criminal Evidenc Act Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act and Departmental procedures.
Provide advice and assistance to traders on trading standards matters, including advice on their rights and obligations and the interpretation of trading standards legislation, advice on business systems, actingas Home Authority Officer where appropriate and forming suitable business partnership.
Mus thave knolwedge of Trading Standards legislation both criminal and civil.
Knowledge of English legal system, Courts procedures and legal and investigation process including knowledge of provisions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act and Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act.
An excellentg knowledge of the range of Trading Standards legislation and an indepth specialist knowledge in one area of advice, enforcement, inspection or orhter area.
Excellent written and vergbal communication skills being able to deal with customers in a responsive, polite and sympathetic manner under potentially confrontational situations.
A proven ability to use a computer system for record keeping, simple work processing and communications.
Demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by trading standards when dealing with customers within a diverse community.
The ability to interpret and apply the law in practice.
Able to work well with others in a team and to support and contribute to team plans. The ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload.
The ability to be able to use creative thinking and judgement when resolving matters where legislation is not fully effective.

The ability to manage and develop enforcement, advice or inspection projects.
Experience of a wide range of trading standards enforcement work including casework and prosecution.
Experience of handling complex projects and investigations to successful resolution.
Good project management skill with experience of managing and developing enforcement, advice or inspection projects.
To hold the diploma in Trading Standards or equivalent.
To work within the Departments flexible working scheme. This willmean a willingness to work when the job requires and will include working evenings and weekends. On average 1 weekend or evening a month vising trade premises, fairs and dealing with cutomers would be expected.
Proces a full driving licence and be able to provide own car for work which an allowance is paid.
