Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor - London Underground project

Location - London City

Remuneration:
£65,000 per annum
Excellent benefits package including final salary pension.

The Company:
Employing over 11,000 people, my client is one of the largest energy companies in the UK supplying gas and electricity to 5million+ customer accounts, and distribute electricity to over a quarter of the country’s population, making them one of the largest regulated and private network operators in the UK.

The Commercial Manager Role:
Based from their offices in the heart of London they are currently seeking a Commercial Manager to join their expanding team to work on upgrading, replacing and maintaining two-thirds of the London Undergrounds infrastructure for the next 30 years - Its trains, stations, signaling, track, tunnels and bridges of some 150 stations. My client is responsible for all the electrification of the whole contract.

Scope of Work
-Four Contracts over 7½ year period
-Stations and Civils for Metronet Rail
-Total value in excess of £1.9 billion
-Annual turnover circa £250 million

They require a Commercial Manager to manage all commercial aspects of the BCV and SSL Alliance Projects. Provide Senior Management and the Operations Teams with commercial advice and reports. Ensure systems are in place to adequately monitor, review and control costs, risks and commercial process.

Duties and Responsibilities:
-Supervise management of forecasting, budgeting and cost reporting functions in liaison with the finance department, such that audit records are established and applications for payment are submitted by the required period end dates.

-Liaise with Affiliate and clients Commercial Managers to identify problems or matters requiring resolution in order to establish common Commercial policy.

-Manage Implementation and review sub-contract procurement program to ensure sub-contractors are procured as required.

-Maintain overview of sub contract accounts to ensure they are being progressed to a satisfactory conclusion. In the event that any disputes arise provide advice to commercial staff and where required become actively involved in the resolution of the dispute to ensure its rapid and efficient conclusion.

Background needed:
-Rail experience in Quantity Surveying (10 years plus)
-HND minimum in relevant subject i.e. Quantity Surveying
-Awareness of financial / management accounting & reporting procedures.
-Understanding of Contract Terms & Conditions.
-Business Analysis - able to document processes and recommend improvements.
