Electrical Design Engineer
£50,000pa
They are a Building Services Engineering Consultants and have been established for 30 years. We design and specify the mechanical and electrical services for large office blocks or other large commercial premises with an emphasis on sustainable, low carbon design, on behalf of our Clients, such as Prudential, Vodafone, Nationwide Building Society, Fujitsu, BBC, European Centre for Mid-Range Weather Forecasts and MOD to name but a few. These can be new build or refurbishment.
In brief, on the electrical side, we design the electrical supplies for building covering lighting, data cabling, generators, back up systems, fire suppressant systems, CCTV and alarms, lifts etc (in effect everything powered by electricity), e.g. new build or refurbishing of Data Centres.
Again very briefly on the mechanical side we design heating/ventilation/air conditioning systems (HVAC) for buildings. E.g. Replacement of cooling towers etc.
Engineers are required to attend meetings, liaising with Clients, equipment manufacturers, contractors, surveyors, architects etc. (These do not normally involve overnight stays away from home and are normally within reasonable driving distances/access from the office).
You will be experienced as a design engineer with a minimum of 3 years UK Building Services experience.
You will have a broad based experience across a range of sectors with good computer and communication skills. Familiarity with TAS, Cymap or Amtech would be beneficial.
You will be involved in key aspects of supervising engineers dealing direct with clients in a face to face environment. The role also entails managing projects, staff and the delivery of their services to clients.
Senior Engineers take responsibility for all aspects of the Design and Specification of Building Services Installation, including surveying, quality inspections, dealing with contractors, attending site meetings, taking minutes, report writing, O&M manuals and project control and management, supervision of project engineers, reporting directly to the Project Director.

HOLIDAYS - 21 days – rising to 24 days after 3 years (with an option of buying 5 extra days leave per annum),
SICKNESS BENEFITS -Full pay – for 4 weeks after completing first year of service. Increasing by one week for each additional year up to a maximum of 13 weeks.
GROUP PERSONAL PENSION - Employer will contribute after satisfactory completion of six months probation. Employer’s contribution matches up to 4%
LIFE ASSURANCE - 4 times annual salary after satisfactory completion of six months probation and over 18 years of age. Non contributory.

You need to have experience of working within the Building Services sector on projects for the built environment. Hence designing for schools, hospitals, historical projects, commercial office or residential projects.
