The client is a successful UK based consulting engineering practice working on major commercial, residential and public sector construction projects. Their specialist Energy and sustainability group provides professional advice on sustainable building design and the application of low and zero carbon energy technologies and systems. They work with a wide range of responsibilities such as:
v Advising clients, design teams, engineers and other professionals on sustainable building design, construction and management, energy in buildings, and on the impact of related UK and European energy, environmental, and sustainable development policy.
v Carrying out energy studies, environmental performance assessments and strategic sustainability appraisals, using methodologies such as BREEAM, LEED, etc.
v Developing concepts and strategies to enhance sustainability, and translating these into workable designs
v Collection, analysis and presentation of evidence to support the business case for sustainable development
v Preparing and making presentations on energy and sustainable development issues
v Preparing and facilitating workshops or seminars
v Contributing to the capabilities of the Group by developing an up to date, expert level of knowledge on sustainable design, construction, management and demolition of buildings and related issues, including energy and environmental performance
Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with relevant experience in large buildings and mixed use developments. Experience of BREEAM or international equivalents such as HQE, LEED or other environmental assessment tools would be an advantage.
Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate:
v Expertise in a sustainable, low energy approach to building design, construction or operation.
v Expertise in energy use in buildings and/or design of low and zero carbon energy systems
v A broad understanding of sustainability in the built environment and a working knowledge of relevant UK and EU energy, environmental, and sustainable development policy.
v An understanding of sustainability appraisal tools such as BREEAM
